The elegance, power and freedom of movement is not solely the language of dancers, but attainable by anyone through the principles of pilates. This technique is grounded firmly in the mechanics of the skeletal system, the geometrically increasing power of coordinated musculature, and the rejuvenation of the circulatory system through breathing - systems inherent in each human body.
In the late 90's, Conklin transitioned from a career in law to teaching from the discipline of the Pilates Method of Physical and Mental Conditioning.

Frieda Carlsen has grown up in a world of dance and musical theater. She recently graduated with BFA in Dance and Minor in Somatic Scineces from UW-Milwaukee. It was there she first discovered her love of Pilates and the study of the human body's movement and alignment. She suffered an injury while in a production and found PilateSpa as a way to stengthen and recover. Working with Kathleen helped her discover what Pilates really is. it is more than a 'workout' but a way to integrate the mind and body to facilitate healthy functioning. She is currently working towards becoming a certified instructor to help people find that the depth of this work travels much deeper than simply fitness.
Frieda is the Studio Coordinator and can be reached at frieda@pilatespa.com
Melissa Kubly spent her youth participating in water sports, including the challenging art of synchronized swimming. Since then she has enjoyed trying different forms of body movement - from yoga to flamenco and belly dancing. In 2004 she enrolled in a pilates mat class and was drawn to combining sports-like physical ability wtih artful movement. Over time, she's realized the balance and meditative peace that it brings to her life and has taken great pleasure in sharing her love of pilates as instructor for over four years. Along with her YMCA and AAAI Instructor certifications, she works to gro ever-expanding pilates knowledge with Kathleen. Melissa is in the Pilates Mastery Training Course.
When not honing her pilates skills, Melissa works as a Lead Training Instructor at Dean Clinic. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and master of Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

My love for the Pilates method started in college though a family’s friend’s studio Jen McWalters Pilates and Beyond. I could feel both my mind and my body connect through breath and movement. I was getting the stretch and balance I needed from also being a runner. I knew I had wanted to complete a training program when I finished undergraduate school but I took a detour to Australia and New Zealand and then headed over to London for a Masters degree in Art. I was a client at amazing studios during my time abroad and when I returned to the States in July 2009 I immediately began to train. I completed my 450 hour Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training from Jen McWalters and I am always up for the challenge of self improvement and continuing education as I continue along my Pilates journey.
When I am not wringing my torso like a towel and pulling my navel to my spine I am either out on a photo shoot or etching a plate in my art studio. I am currently receiving my Masters of Fine Art degree at the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Cody discovered Pilates many years ago as a means of enhancing her dance practice and overall body awareness for more efficient movement. However, it was not until the birth of her daughter in 2007 that she got serious about her Pilates practice. Not only did Pilates help her rebuild strength, but also allowed Cody to discover a deep inner body connection. Cody is certified in mat and apparatus through the Midwest Pilates Institute teacher-training program and the PMA®.
After attending Zumba® classes for about a year, Kathleen decided she loved it so much she wanted to learn how to teach. She attended the training, became licensed and has been teaching for almost a year now. "I love getting people going - making them smile. I love it when the energy of a class keeps climbing, and I can see everyone is having a good time. Zumba® is unlike any other fitness class I've tried - and I've tried a lot of them! It's a lot more fun, and I never get bored."
Join kathleen on Tuesdays at 5:15 pm and party yourself into shape!
Starts 14 February.
